Fuel Your Finals

Students are invited to visit the Health Promotion Office each weekday morning, 9am to 11am, to relax and enjoy a free breakfast. Cereal, oatmeal, and fruit are provided, along with skim, 2%, and soy milk. 

Study Kits
Stop by the Health Promotion Office or one of the Student Health Center waiting areas to pick up a kit. Contents include stress reduction and study essentials—a stress toy, relaxation tips, a highlighter, earplugs, study planning grid, a snack and more…

2014 Commencement Breakfast

"The Office of Global Services (OGS) will host a commencement breakfast for graduating NYU international students, their families and friends. 

Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet and music while celebrating graduates’ accomplishments at New York University. The International Student Leadership Award winners will also be announced. Winners are selected due to their strong involvement in the NYU community and their significant contribution to improving international student life at NYU"

New York Chinese Character Festival

For the first time ever, NYU and ChineseCUBES are pairing up to present the Chinese Character Festival during the month of October!  There are several contests, with winners being announced at the closing ceremony on November 3rd, being held in the Kimmel Center.

F-1 Employment Workshops

F-1 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:

If you are interested in working off-campus, including unpaid internships, you do need to learn about the F-1 student immigration regulations governing off-campus employment.  The Office of Global Services [OGS] is conducting two in-person workshops next week.     -  This is especially important for students completing their degree

    -  This workshop will explain what employment is; how immigration
        requirements fit into unpaid internships; and the types of

After several months of analyzing pressing social issues, New York City high school students will share their findings and network with other young researchers and organizers, college students, community leaders, foundation representatives, and elected officials. The Expo will showcase the breadth and depth of research and organizing among New York City youth on a wide range of topics, including immigration, teen pregnancy, the environment, gun violence, discrimination, poverty, housing, and education.

Submit your photos to the 2013 CAS International Photo Contest!

10 winners will be selected and receive a $50 gift certificate.

Winning photos will be enlarged, framed, and displayed on the walls of Silver 907.

Details:
  • Each student may submit a maximum of three photographs.
  • Photos must be at least 5 inches by 7 inches large.
  • Photos must be printed.
  • Attach each photo to a separate entry form.
  • Photos can be either film (e.g., 35mm) or digital (minimum 300 dpi)
    [The higher the resolution, the better it will look when enlarged.]
  • Submit your entries to Academic Advisor, Brendan Rose, in the CAS Advising Center, Silver 905.
*We will request digital files (or negatives, if you're old-school) of winning photos at a later date.

Registration is fast approaching, and here are some quick reminders, resources, and information to help you be prepared and ready to go. Fall 2013 Registration Appointments begin April 22, 2013.

Do you know where to find you registration appointment time?


Login to your Albert Student Center > There is a box on the right side of the screen titled "Enrollment Dates". The day and time listed there is when you will be eligible to start registering for class. Don't forget to meet with your advisor before you assigned time to be cleared to register.

While the CAS Advising Office is always there to answer questions and help you navigate the NYU system, it is important to know who can clear you for registration.

Note: If you have to go through your major department, check in with them. Every department does registration differently.

TONIGHT! (In)Visible Warriors: Hijabi Monologues

Join us for a full-length performance of the renowned Hijabi monologues! Founded in 2006, Hijabi Monologues creates a theater space for Muslim women's stories; a space to breathe as they are; a space that does not claim to tell every story and speak for every voice. Through sharing stories, strangers touch and connect. Through stories, we are challenged. Through stories, we are human.

Post-performance discussion will follow with Creative Director, Sahar Ullah.

F-1 Post Completion OPT Workshop

ATTENTION!
If you are an F-1 international student and will be completing your degree this May 21, 2013, and you are interested in applying for the F-1 Post Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT), then you should attend this workshop. It will be conducted by Jackie Chin of the Office of global Services [OGS; formerly OISS]. The workshop will cover all facets of the OPT, including eligibility, procedures to apply to both OGS and USCIS, best time to apply, travel after graduation, and the rules during OPT.
