2015 CAS International Photo Contest

 Photo submissions will be accepted through April 24th!

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

CAS will be having its annual photo contest this spring.  Ten winners will receive a $50 gift certificate!  Winning photos will be enlarged and framed for display on the walls of CAS Dean’s Office Lounge for the following year!

This year, we will be accepting photos of New York City taken by international students, as well as photos from the other study away sites.  If you have photos you would like to submit, please send an email to: valerie.nickels@nyu.edu for more information.

 Description:

"The Elmina Slave Castle we visited the day before left us with a heavy heart--the atrocities one can commit against another was shocking to say the least. But our biggest takeaway was not comprehending the extent of human cruelty; rather, like a new dawn, it showed us the beauty of today, how far we've progressed as a human race, and how we should continually strive to make tomorrow a better place."

We would like to thank all who submitted the wonderful photographs this year to the 2014 CAS International Photo Contest.  CAS staff really enjoyed viewing all the photos and we can definitely say that you all produced a wonderful array of dynamic images highlighting your global endeavors.

It's Cherry Blossom Time...

Some of you may have noticed that trees are finally starting to turn green and flower...including the cherry trees. While these trees, along with magnolias are scattered throughout the city, you can see an amazing...and diverse display of blossoms at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, near the Brooklyn Museum. Their website even has a CherryWatch Blossom Status Map.

I went this weekend and took photos, so here's a sneak peak of what you can see:

Winning photos will be enlarged, framed, and displayed on the walls of Silver 907.

Details:

• Each student may submit a maximum of three photographs.
• Photos must be at least 5 inches by 7 inches large.
• Photos must be printed.
• Attach each photo to a separate entry form.
• Photos can be either film (e.g., 35mm) or digital (minimum 300 dpi)
  [The higher the resolution, the better it will look when enlarged.]
• Submit your entries to Academic Advisor, Brendan Rose, in the CAS Advising Center, Silver 905.

*We will request digital files (or negatives, if you're old-school) of winning photos at a later date.
