Prehealth Orientation Sessions

Thinking About a Career in Health Care?

"Acceptance into a professional program – whether medicine, veterinary science, dentistry or allied health – requires more than just a strong academic performance in select science courses. A prehealth advisor can work with you to design a plan blending your career aspirations, undergraduate pursuits, and personal strengths so that you can succeed as a well-rounded candidate. We encourage you to inform yourself of the opportunities and demands of the healthcare field by reviewing this website and utilizing the resources and personalized advising available in the Preprofessional Advising Center.

Our email listserv will keep you up-to-date on volunteer opportunities, research positions, and community service projects. We also offer programming on careers in the health professions, writing the personal statement, and the health professional school interview process. Stop by our office during our daily walk-in hours or make an appointment to discuss where your liberal arts education can take you."

... Next Stop NYU ...

Welcome Week at NYU Washington Square is coming up - have you planned out your week?!

"Our 'Welcome' programs occur at the start of both the Fall and Spring semesters and are intended for new first year and transfer students, as well as students visiting NYU Washington Square.  Our visiting or 'transitioning' population, includes (but is not limited to) participants in Fall and/or Spring in New York, Paths to Peace, Spring at Tisch, Global Liberal Studies students and NYU Abu Dhabi students who may be studying at Washington Square for a semester.

At the start of the Fall semester, we invite students new to NYU Washington Square to join us for Fall Welcome Week; in the Spring, we offer Spring at the Square.  Both Welcome Week and Spring at the Square are designed to help you in your transition by complementing any required school or program orientations, advising sessions or other activities."

[Event] Media & Asian Globalization: China and India, 1977-Present

Friday, March 29, 2013 | 2:15-7:30 pm
Saturday, March 30, 2013 | 9:15 am-4:45 pm
Michelson Theater, 721 Broadway, 6th Floor

The extraordinary growth of China and India over the past three decades, involving the two most populous countries in the world, has set in motion a process of social change that, in its scale and speed, is without parallel in recorded history. The roughly contemporaneous entry of China and India into a period of rapid capitalist growth and market consumption offers important questions for humanistic inquiry. This symposium seeks to engage in productive conversations from trans-Asian and trans-media perspectives, as well as investigate the historical conditions from which the reform-era cultural productions arise and cross borders of one kind of another.

Cosponsored by Global Research Initiatives, NYU Provost; Cinema Studies, Tisch School of the Arts; The Humanities Initiative at NYU; Department of Media, Culture and Communication, NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
