Do you buildOn?

 ~ BuildOn at NYU ~


As a student at NYU, you are one of the lucky literate individuals with access to education.  The BuildOn group at NYU shares the goal of the organization to bring literacy to the 1.2 billion people around the world who do not share that access.

"buildOn's mission is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education"


Yesterday, a member of BuildOn NYU shared their mission during the International Student Coffee Hour and encouraged international to get involved!  This year's goal is to help establish a school in Nepal by fundraising in the city.

Marquee Events for NYU World Tour

NYU's World Tour will be back from October 27th - November 1st this year.  Themed events will be scheduled for each day, so check for the calendar online soon to plan your itinerary!

This year's events will also feature two popular flagship events:

"Take a tour around our global network without leaving the heart of Greenwich Village. The Grand Bazaar will feature free food from around the world, entertainment, giveaways, and will give you insight into each of NYU's global sites."


"Featuring selected shorts filmed all around the world by NYU students, the Global Film Festival will take you on a visual journey around the world through the lens of a few of our most talented filmmakers."

New York Cares Day

"Be part of our annual effort to revitalize New York City's public schools on the 19th Annual New York Cares Day Fall.

Take part in New York City's largest hands-on volunteer day, and join more than 6,000 volunteers and paint a brighter future for our city's public school students. This year, volunteers will create murals, paint classrooms, plant school gardens, and engage students and families in service. By the end of the day on October 19th, 90 public schools in all five boroughs will be transformed."

Yesterday's International Student Coffee Hour was great!  We were able to speak with some fantastic people from different organizations involved with volunteer projects at NYU and throughout the city.

Open House New York Festival

OHNY: A New New York Tradition

This annual festival is going into its 11th year with another lineup of fantastic sights to see!  Attendees have the access to 150+ of the city's most exclusive architectural locations, private homes and landmarks, plus behind-the-scenes tours and programs.  This year also includes a sneak peak of the 72-story 4 World Trade Center before it opens to the public.  The event guide will be available October 2nd online, so take advantage of this unique opportunity to explore the city!
