CAS International Student Coffee Hour

Join us in 1 hour!

At this week’s Coffee Hour we will celebrate Halloween traditions, both in the United States, and related holidays/festivals around the world. We’ll screen some fun and spooky media clips and will have festive beverages and snacks for the holiday. We hope you’ll join us to enjoy this fascinating and fun holiday and to share similar holidays from your own tradition(s). And in the spirit of Halloween, feel free to wear a costume! This Coffee Hour will be co-hosted by the CAS International Student Club (ISC).

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope you all enjoy the break and have a great holiday!

Thanksgiving is a US holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.  This year it is quite late, falling on the 28th.

Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated with the three F’s: Feasting, Family, and Football.  You can experience this first hand with a family by registering for a Thanksgiving Community Visit event with One to World:
www.one-to-world.org

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a New York tradition.  You can watch the procession all day on TV or go to the public viewing areas along the route (www.macys.com/parade).

America's Parade

Veteran's Day: NYC

New York City's Veterans Day Parade continues its tradition as the largest celebration of service in the country.  Veterans Day is an unofficial US holiday that honors all men and women who have served in the armed forces.

The Parade will occur on Monday, November 11th, starting at approximately 11:25 am.  It will run until 3:30 pm, rain or shine.  The route runs along 5th Avenue, between 26th and 56th Streets.  Prior to the parade there will be a traditional opening ceremony at the Eternal Light Monument (5th Avenue @ 24th Street, next to Madison Square Park) beginning at 10:00 AM and concluding with a wreath laying at 11:00 AM. Seating is available at the opening ceremony, with preference given to disabled and elderly veterans.

Join the NYU Military Alliance, NYU Students in the Military, and other veterans in marching in the 2013 New York City Veterans Day Parade.  A gathering location will be sent prior to the event to those who register.  You can register online here.  If possible, wear NYU gear for the event.
