Dean's Undergraduate Research Fund (DURF)


Spring Information Sessions
Sponsored by the College of Arts and Science

Are you currently working on an independent research project? Are you currently thinking about working on an independent research project in the future? Would you like to apply for funding for that research project?

 


Come to an information session about the Dean's Undergraduate Research Fund (DURF) to learn more about the DURF program, what types of projects are eligible for funding, finding a mentor and how to write a competitive DURF proposal:
  • Tuesday, February 3 from 5-6 PM in Silver 907
  • Wednesday, March 4 from 5-6 PM in Silver 907
  • Tuesday, March 10 from 5-6 PM in Silver 907


Reminders:

  • There are two application cycles during the spring 2015 semester: February 13 and April 3.
  • Independent and Team Research Grants can provide you with up to $1,000 to fund your project.
  • Freshman and Sophomore Training (FAST) Grants can provide you with up to $500 to help you learn essential research skills.
  • All CAS freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and first-term seniors are eligible to apply.
  • All CAS students (including past DURF recipients) also have the opportunity to present the results of their project at the College's annual Undergraduate Research Conference in April.
  • The abstracts of projects presented at the Conference are published in the College's research journal, "Inquiry."

Summer Funded Internship Award

The NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development is committed to supporting students as they pursue limitless opportunities. The purpose of this $1,000 award is to provide financial assistance to students pursuing unpaid internships in the arts, education, public service and other not-for-profits.

Deadline: June 17, 2013, Midnight

Who Is Eligible?

  • Students enrolled in degree-granting program at NYU
  • Students who have already secured an unpaid internship
  • Work a minimum of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks during the summer
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • Member of the Class of 2014, 2015, or 2016
  • Students may not receive credit for the internship
  • Students may not be enrolled in summer classes
