On Sunday, September 25, 2016, NYU will inaugurate Andrew Hamilton as its 16th president. The ceremony will be the culmination of a week-long series of special events celebrating the NYU community and showcasing the ideas and innovations, the vision and the verve that make our university the dynamic place it is.
In keeping with this theme, President Hamilton will bestow the first-ever "Making a Difference" Awards to members of our NYU community – a student, a faculty member, a young alumnus/a, and an employee – who have made a profound and lasting impact for the better on the city, region, nation, or globe. The awards will seek to highlight ideas, discoveries, or new and effective approaches that solve a critical problem, provide relief to underserved populations, or break down barriers of misunderstanding and intolerance. They can be in any field of endeavor.
