Immigrant Rights Teach-In & Know Your Rights Presentation

We want to bring your awareness to the Immigrant Rights Teach-In & Know Your Rights gathering that will be happening at the NYU School of Law on Monday, November 28, at 6:00pm. This event is open to both the NYU community and the public (so spread the word!).

Thanksgiving Events Around NYC

Dear Students,

We know some of you will be hosting family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday, so we have compiled a list of fun things to do around the city!


  • For those of you who wish to give back over the holiday, consider joining Feeding NYC two days before Thanksgiving Day. By volunteering, you will help prepare, package, and deliver food to more than 35,000 NYC families in need. Click here to learn more about this volunteer opportunity.

  • If you want to start celebrating early, make your way to the American Museum of Natural History to watch as the balloons are inflated for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Inflation takes place on Wednesday from 3:00-10:00pm. Click here to learn more.

  • Now for the BIG event: The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! This is one of  NYC's most popular events of the year! Click here for the parade route. 

  • Looking for vegetarian recipes for the holiday? Click here and here to discover something yummy!

  • Interested in eating a vegetarian meal rather than cooking one yourself? Not a problem! Find out which vegetarian restaurants are open on Thanksgiving Day by clicking here.

  • For those of you who like shopping, NYC's biggest shopping day of the year falls on the day after Thanksgiving. Click here to find the list of stores that open early on Black Friday.

Thanksgiving break is nearly upon us! Until then, we hope you take advantage of the events listed below:

Chinatown Food Tasting Walking Tour
Date: Friday, November 18
Time: 11:00am – 1:00pm EST
Meeting point: 10:45 am in front of 383 Lafayette Street.
Do you want to explore the second oldest Chinatown in America? Then join NYU Chaplains and the Office of Global Services (OGS) for a walking tour of NYC’s very own Chinatown. Walk the winding streets of a neighborhood where 200 year old histories confront modernity on every corner. Awaken your senses to the sounds, sights and smells of the bustling area. Expect to taste traditional buns and sip aromatic teas… don’t forget to arrive hungry!
Cost: $5 per person, non-refundable, NYU students only.  The price includes a tour guide and a small portion of food and drink. You are free to try more food at your own expense. Reserve a spot here.


R.I.S.E. / O.G.S. THANKSGIVING DINNER
Date: Friday, November 18
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Palladium MPR (140 East 14th Street, 3rd Floor)
Join R.I.S.E. (Residential International Student Engagement), O.G.S. (Office of Global Services), and other NYU students for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. We will be serving turkey, cooked ham, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed & sweet potatoes, gravy, dessert, and much more. You must RSVP for this event as we need to know how much food to order.
